Welcome to Steer Clear Driver’s Ed!
Inspected and licensed by the TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security, we guide new and novice drivers - teaching them the rules of the road. Steer Clear is the only professional driving school in the Tri-cities area, and we’re here to help promote confidence, courtesy, and control on the road by ensuring a foundational knowledge and then putting our students behind the wheel to practice.
Additionally, Steer Clear offers a AAA approved 8-hour defensive driving course designed to promote safer driving habits and meet legal requirements for points reduction of certain traffic violations for TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security, satisfy court orders, and may reduce your insurance rates.

Steer Clear Services

A full course consisting of 30 in-class hours of instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction in one of our fully insured, dual-brake equipped vehicles with a licensed and certified instructor.
No permit required to enroll!

In addition the the Standard Course, one-on-one drives may be purchased for students who may be neurodiverse, struggle with social anxiety, or have special needs that would best be accommodated in this setting.
Any student electing Individual Drives as an add-on to their course is required to currently be enrolled in or have recently, successfully completed a Standard Course.
Each student is required to complete 30 hours of in-class instruction and 6 hours of drive time in order to be issued a certificate of completion.
Individual Drives cannot be purchased as a stand-alone product.

An 8-hour in-person class that fulfills the legal requirements outlined by most courts for drivers who have received a traffic violation. Specifically, this course meets the court-mandated minimum of 8 hours of in-person instruction, as often required for point reduction, ticket dismissal, or compliance with a court order.
