So, What’s the Difference Between a Standard and a Comprehensive Course?

Both courses use the same approved curriculum. The difference is the amount of instructional time and preparation.

The Standard Course covers the required state minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction. The Comprehensive Course provides an additional 15 hours of instructor-led classroom time, which allows more time for explanation, discussion, review, reinforcement, and application of the material. Comprehensive students also receive up to two mock road tests to help identify areas that may need additional practice before they take their actual road test.

IMPORTANT: CLASSROOM ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED

Students must attend all scheduled classroom sessions for the specific course in which they are enrolled.

Students may not attend a different course, a different location, a different class date, or another session to make up a missed class. There is no option for online or virtual make-up sessions. Attendance cannot be transferred between courses or combined across separate course rosters.

Steer Clear is required to maintain accurate attendance and course records for each individual class. Therefore, if a student misses a required classroom session, they cannot simply attend that session with another group.

Additionally, they will not be eligible to move onto the behind-the-wheel portion of the course regardless of the reason for absence.

A student who misses a required in-class session must enroll in a future course and complete that course in its entirety.

Please make sure your student's schedule allows them to attend every scheduled classroom session before enrolling.
